The memory of Christmas Eve ‘09 when scans showed cancer had completely invaded Carson’s brain is what dominates my heart right now. That Christmas, Carson whispered from his hospital bed, “I thought I was going to make it mom”, I whispered back, “me too buddy, me too”.
As we approach the 2nd anniversary of his death, I desperately miss my boy and fiercely hate the thief who invaded his brain and stole him…
So, we fight the thief…
Carson died hoping to be part of finding a cure from disgusting cancer. He insisted his cancer filled brain be studied in hopes of helping the next kid. His brain is waiting…
January 9 our foundation has a meeting with 2 top cancer researchers at UT Southwestern who are guiding us with CL1S (carson leslie 1 stud) childhood cancer brain tumor study and we continue to raise funds to make it happen.
There are 3 Christmas Gifts that help us celebrate…
1. The BECK Group has just been awarded the contract to build The Carson Leslie Center (a real fancy gymnasium at Carson’s alma mater, The Covenant School)! BECK is moving full speed ahead to get the gymnasium built in time for next year’s basketball season! Carson wanted to be remembered as an athlete, not as a boy who had cancer… a great Christmas gift!
2. The Carson Leslie Foundation 2nd annual, “A Sunny Place for Shady People” Texas Hold’em Tournament & Chicken Drop is January 13, 2012. You DON’T WANT TO MISS IT!! Here is a peek of last year’s event & how you can register!! https://carsonlesliefoundation.org/ another great Christmas gift!
3. My Craig’s and I will celebrate Christmas, 1 boy short and holding onto our faith (that has been tested) knowing that we serve a loving, gracious Savior that holds the world in His hands, who collects our tears and promises us we will see our boy again, in just a little while!
