In addition to funding medical research, the Carson Leslie Foundation supports kids and teens with childhood cancer. The organization hasn’t let the coronavirus pandemic get in the way of its mission.
Because the virus is so contagious, hospitals are restricting access to patients undergoing cancer treatment. “Right now, that experience of isolation is only magnified during this time of social distancing,” say the organizers in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the brave children and teens who are battling cancer amid a global pandemic. Though they might feel cut off from the outside world, we want each and every one of these kids to know, ‘You are loved.’”
The group recently made four deliveries to the oncology floor at Children’s Health Dallas, including a lunch for the medical team provided by Manny’s Uptown Tex-Mex.
Here are other organizations that collaborated with the foundation’s COVID-19 response: the Jordan Spieth Foundation, Luke’s FastBreaks, National Charity League (Mockingbird Chapter), Dallas Doing Good, Young Men’s Service League, Ursuline Academy of Dallas, Beck Group, DPR Construction, Dallas Children’s Charities, and Trader Joe’s.
