The Carson Leslie Foundation (CLF) founded the Annual GOLDEN TOAST in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the accomplishments of the bipartisan Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus. Last night, September 13, 2018 in Washington, D.C. at the Library of Congress, with over 200 dignitaries, congressman, senators and members of the childhood cancer community, we celebrated the passage of The Childhood Cancer S.T.A.R. Act.

“S.T.A.R. elevates the fight against childhood cancer at the National Institute of Health (NIH).  STAR provides the tools to be more effective in this fight to find the best solutions and care for our children. None of this would have been possible without the advocates and survivors who continue to share their stories and motivate Members to act.”  –  Congressman McCaul

S.T.A.R. passed the Senate, the Congress (unanimously) and was signed by POTUS, Donald Trump making S.T.A.R. the Law of the Land! It was a pleasure to work under Rep. McCaul’s tireless leadership to see the most comprehensive childhood cancer bill ever which will now advance both childhood cancer research and child-focused cancer treatments for the nearly 16,000 children diagnosed with cancer in the United States every year while improving the quality of life for childhood cancer survivors.  This momentous achievement was worthy of a grand celebration!

The passage of S.T.A.R. was bipartisan politics at the purest!
