CureMEdullo, powered by Carson Leslie Foundation, in partnership with Grayson’s Gang present An Evening Under the Stars 2023
You’re invited to an Evening Under the Stars at PARK HOUSE in Highland Park Village. Together, we will enjoy dinner, crafted cocktails, and an extraordinary auction.
Medulloblastoma is the most common type of the #1 disease killer of kids in the US. We are the only nonprofit solely focused on medulloblastoma research. Funds from Evening Under the Stars will be invested in research leading to the prevention of medulloblastoma.
Contact euts@carsonlesliefoundation.org with your interest in supporting our cause, and be sure to secure your sponsorship or tickets soon, because space is limited.
We’ve had tremendous success the past 12-years in the three components of our Collaborative Mission, and we want to share details with you.
- Childhood Brain Cancer Research – #cureMEdullo collaborative partners
- Tom Luce & James Huffines reported, “Annette Leslie was invited to join the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT’s) Advisory Council on Childhood Cancers. Through her advocacy, CPRIT expanded its role in pediatric cancer, including a $3.2million program to fund research directed at less toxic treatments for childhood brain cancer.”
- CLF #cureMEdullo has partnered with the largest oncology organization in the world, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), to further facilitate research collaborations directed toward developing treatment options for childhood medulloblastoma. “The joining of forces between our organizations represents our synergistic commitment to advance research in medulloblastoma ensuring a cadre of investigators focused on this unmet area of cancer research.” Gerry McDougall, ASCO Conquer Cancer Board Member and Chairman of the Carson Leslie Foundation. Our Medulloblastoma research investments in partnership with ASCO total a quarter of a million dollars.
- Childhood Brain Tumor Network (CBTN) and CLF partnered on a multi-year Precision Medicine program, to better fight medulloblastoma in children. Precision Medicine is the next great frontier in cancer but has yet to be utilized in the treatment of medulloblastoma – until now!
- Advocacy-Awareness-Action
- Federal: We launched the GOLDEN TOAST, an annual celebration where Members of the bipartisan Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus and the childhood cancer community convene in DC to celebrate our legislative accomplishments. Together, we built Unstoppable-Collaborative-Global-childhood-cancer-MOVEMENT passing laws benefitting the overall state of childhood cancer.
- State: We work closely with the $6-Billion Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). Our founder serves on CPRIT’s Advisory Council for Childhood Cancers and was an integral force increasing the proportion of CPRIT funding for childhood cancer research from barely 3% to over 12%. Additionally, CLF and CPRIT launched Researchers RoundUp, bringing Texas’ childhood cancer investigators together to discuss, identify and encourage collaborations.
- Local: Following a highly competitive process, Lyda Hill Philanthropies, identified 15 nonprofits in DFW to move into Pegasus Park Water Cooler office space, “We are excited to welcome this impressive list of tenants to Water Cooler at Pegasus Park,” says founder Lyda Hill. “We have long believed that co-locating a diverse group of exceptional nonprofits could help advance inter-agency collaboration to solve some of the most challenging community problems.”
- Mental Health support and encouragement of kids in the Battle
- The will to live is integral to a child’s survival of cancer; mental health support is integral to our mission.
- Our Jordan Spieth Family Foundation Under Armour Backpack Project is for teen cancer patients across the Lone Star State
- Monthly Hearts of GOLD hootenannies: Each and every month we act like the Tooth Fairy and Santa Clause at Children’s Health Dallas, delivering unexpected surprises to each child who is hospitalized and battling cancer!
- Childhood cancer is extremely stressful including the burden of understanding the disease, medical terms, the possibility of the child’s death at a young age, frequent-extensive hospital visits, overwhelming medical bills, questionable future, painful medical procedures.
- Childhood cancer treatment is often more intensive than adult cancers, in part because disease is more rapidly progressing than adult cancers; side effects of treatment are severe.
- The will to live is integral to a child’s survival of cancer; mental health support is integral to our mission.
